There are many lessons learned since we loaded dining room tables into our cars, embroidered the name "Truly Mom" across our aprons and made ten batches of homemade toffee, in July 2006 on the way to the California Gift Show. We began as mothers with an idea, born from the heart. Our journey has included a feature article in Country Living Magazine, an appearance on the CBS Early Show, tens of thousands of calendars and stationery passing through our doors, but most importantly we have had the opportunity to meet thousands of women, each with their own story to share. Truly Mom is more than a business to us. It serves as a symbol of being a woman. The business has given us a portal into other women's lifes and the challenges they face. Women support women, it is a unique sisterhood.
Truly Mom began after Michelle's successful battle against breast cancer. The same tenacious spirit that fought the cancer was channeled into our business. Even after the reoccurrence of the cancer, while undergoing radiation therapy Michelle would burn the midnight oil working on behalf of Truly Mom. Her spirit is strong. Kristin and I often laugh saying Michelle has the composition of those women pioneers who packed both their children and all their worldly goods into wagons and headed west to begin new lives. Michelle is faced with challenging cancer yet another time. She spent the month of February in the hospital. Thankfully she is home now. Her persevering spirit remains intact. She is beginning to work again, letting Kristin and I know there are things needing to be accomplished. One of the items on her list is updating "from truly yours." The commitment to our many customers remains strong. We are sincere in saying you are appreciated. maria, kristin and michelle |
